Start with the task, then check the size, set and material of the tool you choose.
For your care routine
A silicone applicator spreads a mask without using your fingers. A teardrop makeup puff offers a broad side and a narrower point. If you want to take a product with you, choose a bottle size that suits the amount you need and check that its pump works with your liquid.
For a drawer or travel bag
Small items are easier to find when they have a dedicated container. Compare the inside dimensions of a box with what you plan to store; compact does not mean every small object will fit. A folding brush saves space because the brush head closes away between uses.
For kitchen work
Choose a drawstring spice bag if you want to remove whole spices from a pot in one step. A basket liner has a different job: it sits between dough and a proofing basket. Check the basket diameter before selecting a liner.
For making
